If you've noticed pop-up adverts appearing even when your not browsing the 'net - or your PC is suddenly trying to sell you viagra - You may have acquired a few unwanted pieces of software.

Spyware and Adware can come from pretty much anywhere - Peer-to-Peer software, unscrupulous web-sites or even accidentally clicking on a banner advert.

AVG Anti-Virus that Kev featured a while back does a great job of protecting your system from virus's, but malware is becoming more and more of a problem out on the interweb.

But fear not, we have a great tag-team to detect and remove this junk:

Ad-Aware

And Spybot.

Grab both of these then get them installed and updated. Give you system a full scan and see how much rubbish you've accumulated from all those lovely drive by installers and (if your still using Internet Explorer) ActiveX exploits.

It's a good idea to get into the habit of running full scans once a week or so in conjunction with AVG to keep you OS nice and healthy.
